I was born in Gliwice in Upper Silesia in Poland,
where you can find the tallest
wooden structure in the World:). This is my first small homeland.
This is the place of many of my memories and the place were my parents,
my
younger brother (my older brother lives in Berlin), and a lot of my
friends still live. It is the place where I
always comeback with great joy.
Then I moved to the Magic City of Krakow, where I studied physics at
the
Jagiellonian University (where Nicolaus
Copernicus has also studied). Then, physics brought me to a small
Swiss village
Villingen where Paul Scherrer Institute is located. Thanks to the
European
Physical Society grant I spent some time in Copenhagen the city where
the time flows very slowly. During my PhD I spent most of my time in
Krakow, Geneva and Paris. In Geneva I met my
wonderful wife Monika. And from this
point on we've been travelling together (in our VW polo) to Paris,
Krakow,
Karlsruhe
and Manchester (as is shown below on a wedding gift made by our
friends). By travelling (during the last 10 years I lived in 15
different
flats
in 6 different countries) I have learnt a lot. Not only about physics
but
also about history, different cultures, different points of view and
different nations. What is even more important, I was always lucky to
meet very good people who became my friends and for whom my door
always stays open, no matter where I am. Some of them come from
countries which I haven't yet visited but hope to do so in the future.
